New Commissions and Renewals

Online Registration Form

  • Notary Public registration can now be completed online.
  • Once the online form has been submitted, your application will automatically be forwarded to your legislator for endorsement.
  • Your commission paper will then be mailed to you.
  • You must take the oath of office in the Morris County Clerk’s Office within 90 days of the commission mailing date. There is a $15.00 filing fee that may be paid in cash, business check, certified check or money order made out to the “Morris County Clerk”. We can no longer accept personal checks. There is no appointment necessary and we are available any time from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Failure to take the oath of office in time will render the commission invalid and the application process will have to be restarted.

New/Renewal Mail-In Application Form

  • Please fill in all of the information required on the form. Your signature should be the same as used when notarizing documents.
  • If it is a renewal of a current commission, you must provide your previous identification/commission number, commission date and expiration date at the top of the application.
  • If there are any changes to your information since your last commission, please check the appropriate box to the right of the name and/or address sections.
  • If you are a resident of a neighboring state, please list your Morris County business name and address in the “New Jersey Non-Residents Only” section toward the bottom of the page.
  • You may obtain your legislator’s signature by sending the completed application, along with a check for $25.00 made payable to the “Treasurer, State of New Jersey”, to our office at Morris County Clerk, PO Box 315, Morristown, NJ 07963-0315 or by sending both items directly to your legislator. You can find their contact information within our Morris County Manual.
  • Once you receive your commission paper, you must take the oath of office in the Morris County Clerk’s Office within 90 days of the commission mailing date. Change of Name and/or Address

Name and/or address changes can now be completed online!

Name and/or Address Change Form

  • Please fill in all information required on the form. Your signature should be the same as used when notarizing documents.
  • One copy of the form should be filed with our office at Morris County Clerk, PO Box 315, Morristown, NJ 07963-0315 and one should be sent to the Division of Revenue, Notary Public Section, PO Box 452, Trenton, NJ 08646.
  • Our office charges a $15.00 filing fee for name changes only and it may be paid in cash, business check, certified check or money order made out to the “Morris County Clerk”. We can no longer accept personal checks. There is no fee for address changes.
  • The Division of Revenue charges a $25.00 fee for name changes only. Their check is made payable to the “Treasurer, State of New Jersey”. There is no longer a fee for address changes.
  • You will receive a new commission reflecting the information change from the Division of Revenue. You do not have to come to our office to retake the oath of office.
  • It is important that our office is made aware of any changes that are filed with the State.
 

Notarial Services

Our office does not offer notarial services for the public. If you need to find a Notary Public, many of Morris County’s public libraries offer the service.
